Portraits under a moving sky.
Aurora portraits are long exposures, so the camera needs a few seconds of stillness. Our guides set up the shot, light you just enough, and time it with the sky.
Tip for the sharpest portrait: stay as still as you can until your guide says the photo is finished. Even a small movement during the exposure can blur it.

Phone and camera tips.
- Phones: use Night mode and hold the phone dead still, or rest it on something. Your guide can help you set it up.
- Cameras: a tripod, manual focus at infinity, a wide lens open as far as it goes, and exposures of a few seconds. Faster exposures when the aurora is dancing.
- Batteries: cold drains them fast. Keep spares in an inside pocket.
- Fogging: when you go back into the warm van, keep your camera in a closed bag until it warms up so it doesn't fog.
- Look up, too. The best part is seeing it with your own eyes.

Are photos included on SkyChase?
Yes. Ask for as many portraits as you like during the night. Unedited photos are included at no extra cost.
When do photos arrive?
Our target is about seven days after your tour. An optional edited gallery is $59 per booking group.
Can I use my own camera or phone?
Absolutely. Guides help set up your phone or camera for the aurora, and complimentary tripods are available on request, subject to availability.
What about the 360° footage?
Our 360° night-lapse camera records the entire sky while you watch. The footage is included when conditions allow.
Will I appear in your marketing?
On SkyChase, appearing in tour photos means you're OK with us using them in our marketing; if you'd rather not, tell your guide and we'll keep you out of the photos. You can ask for removal any time at book@aurorainak.com. Private SkyChase photos aren't used in marketing without written permission.
