Booking & price
How much is a SkyChase tour?
SkyChase starts at $335 per adult (15 and older); younger guests have lower rates. Private SkyChase is $3,150 for your private party of up to 8. See live dates & prices.
Why book direct instead of through a booking site?
The Aurora Guarantee and the 7-day SkyChase Standby Program come with direct bookings, and you deal with us directly for any change. Book at aurorainak.com or call or text (907) 931-4000.
Can I book for tonight?
Yes, same-day bookings happen often. Seats depend on the night. Call or text (907) 931-4000 for same-day availability.
Pickup & timing
Where do you pick up?
From your lodging within about five miles of downtown Fairbanks, or an assigned meeting point.
What time is the tour?
Pickup is usually 9–10 PM (10–11 PM early and late in the season because of daylight). We usually aim to return around 2–3 AM; long or difficult nights can run to about 3–5 AM.
What if I'm running late for pickup?
We wait about 15 minutes at pickup. Call or text us if you're running behind.
Weather & the aurora
What if it's cloudy?
We chase clear sky. On very challenging nights we tell you by about 3:00 PM and you can cancel for a full refund, reschedule, or go ahead without the guarantee. Read how it works.
What does the Aurora Guarantee cover?
On a Guaranteed Night, if no Northern Lights are seen by eye or camera, you choose a 50% refund or a rescheduled outing (direct bookings). No one can promise the aurora will appear.
Do we keep driving all night?
We drive to where the sky looks clearest, then set up camp there most nights so you can watch, warm up and take portraits. If the sky changes, guides decide whether moving is worth it. Exact viewing sites are never promised in advance.
When is the best time to come?
Aurora season runs roughly late August to mid-April. See when to see the Northern Lights in Fairbanks.
Comfort & who it's for
How cold will it be?
Colder than you think. Bring warm winter clothing and good boots. Heated vans, fires and the Mobile Lodge (when it travels with us) give you places to warm up. See what to wear.
Is it right for kids or older parents?
Families are welcome. Guests 15 and older pay the adult rate; younger guests join with appropriate safety restraints. Nights run late, so plan for a 2–3 AM return. Tell us about car seats or mobility needs when you book.
How big is the group?
You ride in a 14-passenger high-roof van, and most nights we don't fill every seat. On busy nights several vans meet at the same viewing site and share the fires and the Mobile Lodge.
Is there food?
Tea, apple cider, hot chocolate and locally roasted coffee; Alaska reindeer sausages over the fire, a vegan option, and s'mores when available. Offerings vary with availability and conditions.
Photos
Are photos included?
Yes: unlimited portrait requests, unedited photos included, delivered in about seven days. Optional edited gallery $59 per booking group. More about photos.
